Welcome friends. This week, I’d encourage you to “Keep on Keeping on,” as the old people used to say when I was growing up. The women often would say, “Chil, keep on keepin’ on. Don’t stop.” They always knew what to say when the chips were down. What an encouragement of hope and perseverance! Therefore, I want to encourage you to stay strong as recent events seem to turn the world into a tailspin.
People have become meaner, and life is more demanding. Food and gas prices continue to rise. People commit violent crimes in astronomical numbers, and homelessness is much higher than in years past. Police have become just about powerless to stop crimes, and politicians don’t have any solutions. That said, politicians can’t fix these problems.
In addition, we now have countries going to war and political fallout on every corner all over the globe. However, God knew these events would happen. For example, he addresses war in Matthew 26:6. “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet.” In this verse, he gives us hope and tells us not to worry about these events.
Sadly, hope is dwindling as many people do not have any hope. Many do not realize hope lies in Christ and his sacrifice on the cross, not politicians. The answer is Christ and always has been Christ. However, many do not want to hear about Christ. I am acquainted with several who don’t understand why the world is upside down, nor do they want to hear about Christ. Please pray for those. However, Christ is the answer and remains the answer to every problem we face.
When Christ died, he did not die only for Christians in Rome and Israel. He died for billions of people worldwide, past, present, and future. Anyone can accept his grace and mercy if they have a tiny bit of faith in Christ and his work on the cross. “The Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you would tell this sycamore tree, ‘Be uprooted, and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.” Luke 17:6.
My friends, something so simple is tough for many. Think about this, we see the stars and moon and feel the wind. It does not take faith or hope to see creation. However, it takes faith to see and believe what we cannot see. We live in a society that demands proof for everything, which is why only a few will find Christ. Christ talks about a few in several verses; however, this verse is the one that jumped out at me. How the gate is narrow and the way is restricted that leads to life! There are few who find it. Matthew 7:14.
Many celebrities and even some pastors teach there are many ways to salvation. However, there is only one way, which is Jesus. He is our hope, joy, and peace. The number of people needing his saving grace is surprising, as it is the number of people rejecting his gift of life. Please share with others who have not accepted his gift as well as those close to you. “Keep on keeping on,” for those who already know him. There is hope and power in the blood. For those, who do not know him, please talk with someone who knows Christ.
