God are you there?

Updated: Jul 13, 2022

Welcome friends to another week. I want to talk with you about God, a big undertaking. However, my version is short compared to other websites. Why? There is a lot to tell that my blog cannot cover.

May I start by telling you I was a mess? Nothing worked out for me. Then I met God. Science attempts to deny that God exists using scientific data. Therefore, we come to a crossroads. There are two camps, those who believe and those who don't. I will not bore you with statistics. Please visit https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/essay/the-existence-of-god/

How would you define God? I assure you this question has relevance. To many, He is a person who takes care of booboos, hugs us when we are hurt, talks with us about life, comes to our aid, forgives our wrongdoings, and takes care of our needs. Many may not have a person to call dad in their lives. Mom and dad may have divorced, or one parent passed away. Or they never knew their biological dad. So, I'd like to introduce you to my Father, God, dad, and best friend. Before you meet him, let me start by giving you a little information about him.

First, His home is not on Earth; it is in Heaven. Dad goes by many names- God (Gen 1:1). There are over 4,094 instances in the Bible; Yahweh (Lord) 6,800 times in the Bible; Shepard (Psalm 23), Provider (100 verses), Peace (50 instances), Righteousness (72 verses), Abba (4 times), Alpha and Omega (Beginning and End 6 verses) Adonai (Hebrew Bible 450 times); Ancient of Days (6 times), Elohim (Hebrew word for God- 2,500 times), and Jesus(942 times). https://www.biblegateway.com

Next, many arguments exist concerning his existence. Does he, or doesn't he? God, are you there? God wants us to know he exists. He gave these answers from His word. Paul writes:

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Romans 1:20

Our hearts, by faith, recognize his existence without being told God exists. For one to deny their heart is denying he exists. Faith is key.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

That said, the most relevant question is: How does God exist? Answer: He is eternal (forever), self-existent, unchanging, and fixed. He does not have a beginning or end; he is. God existed before time. There are many arguments for God's existence and many against it. However, only sixty-Three percent of Americans believe in God. Thirty-seven percent do not believe. https://www.pewforum.org/religious-landscape-study/belief-in-god/. According to God, no one has an excuse not to believe. Paul says this in Romans 2:15-16.

Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

He gives proof all around us. When we look at the sky, we see the sun, stars, moon and feel the wind. Explain wind. Scientists try to explain many things but can't. No one can explain the sun, moon, or planets (though they try using science.)

We must take his existence by faith (which is hard for many). Faith believes without seeing proof. Contrary to popular belief, nothing on the Earth created itself. Think about this, we feel the wind, heat from the sun, cold rain, and see the sun and moon. We also see clouds, trees, animals, people, none of which created themselves. The moon did not say, "I think I'll place myself here." The weather did not invent itself. So, creation tells us he is real. Humans are part of creation as well. We did not evolve from apes; if that is the case, who created them? Therefore, there must be a force beyond comprehension who made these items we see and feel, though many try to dispel it. Do you realize there are more than 458,000,000 results on the internet about God? Therefore, millions are searching as well.

Are you trying to decide if you believe? You are not alone. Many people struggle with belief (even people professing to be Christians.). Believing comes from the heart. No one can tell a person to believe or not to believe. Talk with a pastor or a trusted believer. Try YouTube as well. However, reading the Bible is the best way to know him. This blog may not answer your questions since some may require very long answers only a pastor, deacon, or church member can give. However, it is a place to begin. If your reading level is lower audio Bibles and picture Bibles are great ways to start. See my first blog for more information.

Please don't become discouraged. It may take a while to get the answers you seek. Do not give up. The Bible (God's word) tells us God is real. Men did not write the Bible without God (The Holy Spirit). I'll cover the Holy Spirit in a later blog. ) A person thinking about God and seeking answers to become a Christian, may want to start with these questions.

1. Who is God? Who is Jesus?

2. How can he help me?

3. How do I know he is real?

4. What is faith?

5. What is salvation?

6. What is sin?

7. Why should salvation matter?

Not deciding about God or Jesus (the same) is a decision. Scripture testifies that: I (Jesus) and my (Jesus's) Father are one, John 10:30. If you died tomorrow, where would you spend eternity? Please visit https://www.biblegateway.com/

God promises that whoever believes in him will have a place in Heaven. For more information, please speak with a pastor. I understand this blog may not answer your questions since they may require very long answers that only a pastor, deacon, or church member can answer. However, it is a place to start.

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:2-3.
