Our World Divided
Welcome, friends, to another week. I am excited I am attending a conference in another week. That said, there will not be a blog next week. However, I look forward to meeting all of you again in the following week, God's willing. However, for today, I am excited to be able to travel and become a part of a more significant focus which is Christ. That said, the god of this world is working overtime since he knows his time is short.
Our world is divided. Today, we hear of wars and rumors of wars (Russia, Taiwan, and Ukraine). There are inter-country wars, such as Russia and Belarus, and Chornobyl. Then we have civil, drug, political, ethnic, and terrorist conflicts in 21 countries. Let's not forget the United States, which is also in an internal war - migrants, drugs, political factions, abortion, civil rights, moral decay, and ineffective leadership. We are also in a spiritual war where a minority of churches, pastors, and "Christian" entertainers are now morally and spiritually corrupt. While some pastors defend the gospel, others choose instead to preach feel-good messages to double attendance and offerings. Sadly, like Judas, 38% of pastors, walk away from the faith which causes more divisions. https://www.barna.com/research/pastors-well-being/
Many have become immune to current events leading to anxiety or dissatisfaction. That said, many issues plague our world, just as Jesus said it would in 2 Timothy 3: 1-5. https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/countries-currently-at-war Clearly, we are more divided now than in the past. The good news is this: we are the generation witnessing the Bible coming to fulfillment, which is very exciting for those expecting Christ's return. There is more good news; many continue spreading the gospel worldwide. People worldwide buy 384 to 615 Bibles per week. Over 1.66 million sell a week, which means 38 sell every minute. https://wordsrated.com/bible-sales-statistics/. In addition, a group of African pastors translated the Bible into languages for many African nations who cannot read or write English.
It is now estimated there are over 2.56 billion Christians or those who identify with Christianity worldwide. As Israel prepares to build the third temple, there are approximately 180,000 Christians in Isreal as of 2020, and the number continues to grow. What an amazing testimony to God's sovereignty! Numbers are steadily increasing.
Of course, not everyone who identifies as Christian is a genuine believer. Therefore, these stats remind me of this verse ("Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in Heaven. Matthew 7:21) However only Christ knows our hearts. As we see the world spiraling out of control and division continuing to rise between good and evil, take heart. God is still in control, and he cares for each of us. Jesus is the only way to Heaven, not money, fame, possessions, our families, or acquaintances. When we know Jesus, none of the world's problems matter; our emphasis becomes pleasing the Lord and becoming witnesses for him. Therefore, I want to leave you with several verses this week.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9
Jesus cares for people. He wants everyone to come to him for salvation. Jesus saves everyone who believes in him. Though the world is presently out of control, Jesus is in control. We cannot perform any good works to earn our way into Heaven. He is the only way. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6
Once we believe from the heart Jesus died, was buried, and rose again (1 Cor 15:1-4), we qualify for a glorious flight to Heaven. Jesus paid the fare with his life. For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 For those who do not believe, please consider this: everyone dies. Where do you want to spend eternity?
