What are the Ten most Readable Bible Versions for new Believers?

Updated: Jul 13, 2022

Did you know if a person struggles to read, they may not want to tackle some Bible versions? Or, are you a new believer who is considering an understanding of the Bible? From experience, I can relate to both of these situations. If yes, you are in the right place. I have compiled a shortened list for you. There are many bibles on the market today. If you ask any person, they might say their favorite Bible is the King James, while another would say it is the English Standard Version. For years, I only read the King James; however, I found rather than struggling to understand the text, it was time to take a chance on another version. Did you know most people read on an 8th- grade level? However, for readers below grade level, even reading a passage in 8th grade is very hard. I can tell you as a retired teacher, anyone struggling with reading will not want to read. Since there are so many versions, I thought it would be worthwhile to dive into each one to compare these versions. I have listed bibles based on grade level. Of course, will we all agree on a specific version? Too often, when we compare bibles, there is so much information, we give up looking for one. In fact, today, there are more than 60 versions of the Bible. Then we began using the older Bible, which may not suit our needs. To that end, I thought I would compile a list of the most popular bibles on the market. I am comparing readability (grade level), price and, availability (where you can buy it). That said, here is my ultimate bible comparison list. These Bibles are available on Amazon.com, Christianbook.com and other retailers.
